I'm developing an odd habit of taking photos of empty seats.

These are from the small streets of Shimokitazawa in Tokyo. What I wouldn't give to be back exploring those little laneways, started the day in search of a donut shop but instead getting lost and stumbling across sweet cake shops, overpriced vintage clothing stores, and a Mos Burger joint. That first photo looks like a double framed photo, that I honestly can't remember how I took it. So of course, I love it.

On the weekend, we made a batch of red velvet cupcakes. It was a wee bit burnt on some, but the sweet icing made up for it. Yum! This is the recipe we used, if you'd like to try for yourself.

I tend to have a habit of taking photos of people behind their backs - literally. People fascinate me. I'm sure if I wasn't so shy I'd take photos of strangers' front and faces a lot more, and get more character out of them that way - but well, it's easier (and somewhat less obviously creepy) and more natural being on the other side.

Photos from Disney Sea, Tokyo. I am alsmost regretting not getting one of those huge Mickey Mouse ear hats and massive gloves. If anything, they would've kept me snuggly and warm (it was freeeezing!).

Oh my, I've been absent from the blog for most of the week. Here's a little update on what I've been up to.

Watched... the Artist. A movie so clever, so charming, and just so so good! Go and see it, please.
Read... The Virgin Suicides: A Novel
Listened to... mixed CDs
Learned... to speak my mind
Drank... iced green tea latte
Ate... chocolate pie, chocolate dumplings and chocolate ice cream (not all in one go, but can you imagine if it was!? haha)
Enjoyed... being spoiled by my big brother who came and stayed over for a week

The first film roll I used in my LC-A+ camera during my Japan trip was a 400 iso one. However, stupid me had the LC-A+ set to 1600 instead, and did not realize this fact until the very end of the roll. So at that point I was fearing for the worst and expected my first shots of Tokyo - which in my mind were supposed to be everything magical and magnificent - end up being completely underexposed and dark and awful. Yeah, heart breaking stuff. Luckily, someone gave me valuable film developing advice: get it push processed. The result? The complete opposite from what I feared. The colours are so vibrant and really pop! Heart break avoided! Happy accidents can be fun.

These photos were taken at Harajuku, Tokyo. Spot the hearts? I like how the ones in the first photo look like they're floating out of those guys' heads! As for the second photo, I ended up buying the socks in the bottom right corner. Love hearts and smiley faces for the win!
