OUTFITS | Uniform, I don't have that many clothes

Photobucket

tee: Hema
jeans: Acne
heels: Acne
jacket: Zara
clutch: Samira Boon

Yes, you're right, everything that I'm wearing has already made an appearance(or two) on my blog. The truth is that I don't have that many clothes! And I love the little collection that I've built dearly and wear all my pieces to death.

OUTFITS | Glitter

glitter shirt: Thrifted in Antwerp
ring: COS
beanie: someone left it at my house
lipstick: Airborn unicorn, Limecrime

This Sunday really feels like spring, waking up to the sound of birds, a blue sky and a ray of sunlight peeking through my curtains called for a bit of a party. And what's more festive than glitter?

OUTFITS | Cape-Jacket

scuba pants: Monki
shoes: 1990s Chanel
necklace: Nelly
clutch: courtesy of Shampalove

Yesterday I wore this -what you could hardly call a- jacket. Temperatures are slowly creeping up and this cape-jacket was more of a symbolic addition to my outfit that says something like 'I'm not walking outside without a coat yet'. But in fact, I kinda was. The jacket is thin, doesn't close and does not offer protection in cold weather. But luckily we don't need that anymore! Only 6 days left till it's officially spring!

OUTFITS | First Shorts Of The Season

Photobucket

Photobucket

silk mens tee: Filippa K
shorts: vintage Adidas
clutch: vintage
nails: Nail Rock metallic foil

Today my legs got to see sunlight for the first time this year, which they desperately needed! I love finding vintage and secondhand items that still look modern and aren't retro in an obvious way. Like these shorts that I thrifted a couple of weeks ago are at least 22 years old; the label inside still says 'made is West-Germany'.

OUTFITS | Selfmade Foam Skirt

Photobucket

Photobucket

sweater: COS mens
skirt: DIY
heels: Mango
nails: Nail Rock metallic foil

Yesterday I made this skirt inspired by Tibi's fall winter 2012 collection. I don't even know what this fabric is called, it was one of the cheapest from the fabrics-shop and is as synthetic as it can get. It was a challenge making it because the plastic foam was sharper than my thread and kept cutting it. I ended up sewing the skirt by hand entirely but it was very much worth it, I'm sure I'll be wearing my new baby the whole week.

OUTFITS | Miniature

I've caught the flu, but the good news is is that my beautiful 5 year old daughter is substituting!

OUTFITS | Vintage Calvin Klein and Thrifts

baseball jacket: American Apparel
sweater: vintage Calvin Klein
necklace: Nelly
leather skirt: thrifted
heels: Mango

The sun decided to show itself today. Reason enough to pull out a skirt and go bare legged. I've always been perplexed by British girls going out mini skirts in the middle of winter, but they are completely right; you don't feel that much cold on your legs. In the end I decided to also add a pair of sheer 20den tights to this ensemble, not for warmth but to at least look like I don't think it's summer yet.

OUTFITS | Two Toned, White Grey Shirt

Photobucket

Photobucket

shirt: DIY
jacket: borrowed from Avelon
scuba pants: Monki(last season)
sunglasses: Alexander Wang

The shirt is made out of two boys' longsleeves(nice and straight fit) cut through the middle and sewn back together. I left a long part of the seem on the bottom open so that one color can be tucked into ones pants.

OUTFITS | Sweatpants and Sandals

Photobucket

Photobucket

top: DIY
sweatpants: Uniqlo
shoes: Topshop
and a plastic bag

As you can see my new sandals look slightly different from the ones in store. I thought a big chunky reflective heel was enough metal for one shoe. So I tore off the the big shiny clasps on the ankle straps and replaced them with a pair of press studs on the inside of the straps. Now the fastenings are invisible and the sandals look much more subtle and minimalistic don't you think?

OUTFITS | Shark Dress

Photobucket
dress: COS
ponyskin clutch: courtesy of shampalove

The only thing this dress doesn´t have in common with a shark is a fin on the back. The streamlined shape, the lightblue greyish color and the cutouts on the side of the body that look like gills make me feel so sharkish. I´m so happy that the weather is finally alloweing me to wear it, I´ve been in love with it ever since the COS lookbook was out.

OUTFITS | Deconstructed Blazer

sleeveless blazer: Avelon
mesh dress: American Apparel
cycle shorts: American Apparel
shoes: H&M
bag: Alexander Wang

It looks like it's halfway down its design process, has an unfinished collar, large nonchalant stitches, frayed edges and an exposed construction. I acquired this technical sleeveless blazer for a only a portion of its original price last week at Avelon's sample sale and wore it for the first time today.

OUTFITS | Elongated Legs

Photobucket

Photobucket

leather jacket: thrifted
trousers: H&M
shirt: Hema
invisible 14cm platform 1990's boots: thrifted

Last weekend I went into H&M to buy socks and walked away with this pair of white wide trousers. They were sadly hanging over a rack with a 50% off tag and they looked completely disgusting covered in dark dust. But they were exactly my size and cup of tea. That's what I have to give H&M credit for; they always seem to have just the thing that you are not looking for. As for the socks, I totally forgot about them.

Photobucket

photos from Style East and Alice Point

So many interesting things were going on around me during London Fashion week that I forgot to take pictures of what I was wearing myself. But luckily my outfits are popping up on other blogs! Here's what I wore on day 3; shirt from Land, Topshop jeans, heels Acne and hoodie from boyfriend.

lipstick: airborn unicorn byLime Crime
sportsbra: H&M 2 years ago

Besides Fashion Week, Uniqlo was one of the things I was looking forward to on my trips to London. We visited the store 3 times and stayed inside about an hour each visit. I ended up buying only one thing; these not so slobby sweatpants.

OUTFITS | Burgundy Suit

Photobucket

Photobucket

suit: thrifted
shirt: Jutka&Riska
necklace: Nelly
shoes: thrifted

+DIY branch hanger

I imagine this suit belonging either to a little elevator boy or a petite, korean, chique grandma. I found it in the secondhand store of a posh village a few years ago. Flawless thick wool fabric, a double row of golden buttons(which I tore off) and the best part; it was just my size. Being barely 1.60m I rarely find anything that doesn't need to be shortened, cut or taken in. Specially suits in thrift stores are usually viking sized as oposed to this little thing.
Oh and have you already bought any heart shaped candy with 70% discount for your lover today?

LIFE | Dressing For Comfort

Photobucket

Photobucket

jacket: vintage
skirt: selfmade
backpack: vintage
necklace: Nelly
shoes: 1990s Chanel

The Dutch are known for their sober attitude, no sillyness, no frillyness. When dressing, practicality always comes first. But what I've always disliked is the common thought that practicality and aesthetics don't mix. Like ignoring how ugly Uggs are because of their comfort. As if there aren't any comfortable shoes in the world that don't make your feet look 5 sizes bigger. As a protest against this practicality I stopped wearing jeans for years, looking back it was an unnecessary masochistic thing to do.

For a day in the city I wore something as decadent as a high slit floorlength skirt in the most casual of fabrics; heather grey jersey, sheer pantyhose with flat shoes, a leather backpack and some gold metal jewelry.

turtleneck from H&M

jacket: vintage
sweatshirt: H&M men's
skirt: self made
heels: Acne
necklace: Nelly

This is what I wore to Berlin Fashion Week on Wednesday. (Sorry if I'm boring you with my high slit skirts and metal necklaces but this is just what really love wearing atm.) It was a real last minute outfit, I made the skirt in my hotel room the night before and cut off a men's sweatshirt from H&M. Added the neck cuff, pair of good heels and voila!

OUTFITS | Thickest Knit

Photobucket

Photobucket

knit : second hand
boots : Acne
necklace : Nelly
lipstick: Lime Crime

This gigantic cosy wool knit I found my boyfriend found on the 'Noordermarkt', a secondhand market every Monday morning at the end of Westerstraat in Amsterdam. It's so huge that I can wear a million things underneath and so warm that I don't even need a coat on a dry winter day.
